|
Appropriate Materials Lecture notes, previous exams, problem sets and solutions, article photocopies, and photocopies of book chapters (up to 10% of a book) are good candidates for electronic reserve, as well as any electronic files or other materials that were "born digital" such as web pages and web sites. During the initial phase of the project, the University Libraries was offering both paper and electronic access to photocopied materials on reserve. However, paper reserves were phased out starting fall semester 2007-2008. Recommended Lead Time Reserve requests and materials must be received at least one week before the beginning of each semester to be guaranteed on reserve for the start of classes. "Rush" requests submitted after the beginning of the semester will be processed as soon as possible. Items received after 2 p.m. on Friday will not be initiated until the following Monday (no reserves processing is done on weekend). Student Information The purpose of electronic reserve is to make reserve materials available 24 hours, 7 days a week from any computer on and off campus, and to expand the kinds of materials instructors can currently place on reserve. Due to copyright restrictions, the materials for electronic reserve are only accessible to students enrolled in those courses. Each professor has been given a username/password that will be shared with the class. Users may view and print or save for later use course materials, which professors wish to make available to students. The current system includes sample exams, lecture notes, journal articles, and assignments. No copies of entire books are available in electronic reserve. These may still be checked out at the reserve desk. The electronic reserve does not replace the hard copy put by the professor for reserve. We hope that students will find this a time saver and a more complete resource than the traditional reserve service. Feel free to give us a feedback. Need more information?
